The Dukan Diet - Preview

The Dukan Diet has been around for about 10 years, and recently became famous due to Kate Middleton using the diet in preparation for her wedding to Prince William.  This diet is very popular in Europe and many people have seen great success from the program when they complete all four stages of the diet as directed.

Recently, the Dukan Diet was released in the US due to the popular demand for the book following the royal wedding.  Many North Americans were purchasing the book from Amazon.uk or the the UK website for the Dukan Diet.  After seeing this overwhelming response from the North American people, Dr. Pierre Dukan decided to slightly modify the menu of his diet to suit the tastes of the North American people and re-release his famous book.

In the book, Dr. Dukan discusses why he was apprehensive to bring his diet to North America, and in particular the USA.  It was interesting to read about his fear of failure in fighting the American obesity epidemic.  After many tests in the American market, he finally decided to commit to sharing his knowledge in a revamped book tailored to the American people.

The Dukan Diet has 4 phases: Attack, Cruise, Consolidation, Stabilization.  Weight loss occurs only during the first two phases.  The last two phases teaches weight management and maintenance on a permanent basis.

Attack:  The first phase.  Lasts 2-10 days depending on the amount of weight to loss desired overall.  Focus on pure protein eating.

Cruise: The second phase.  Lasts until True Weight is reached (not always what one would consider their goal weight).  Focus on a pattern of pure protein and protein + vegetables eating.

Consolidation: The third phase.  Lasts for 5 days for every pound lost.  Consolidates weight loss and reintroduces all food groups over time. Focus on increasing metabolism to accept 'normal' eating.

Stabilization: The fourth phase.  Lasts for life (ideally). Focus on 3 key components for lasting results.
